Whatsapp Status Update changes Everything: No More Status only Stories, Gifs

Whatsapp Status Update: Popular instant messaging platform WhatsApp on Friday announced that it has 200 million monthly active users in India.  The co-founder of WhatsApp, Brian Acton along with Neeraj Arora, Head of Business, WhatsApp, on Friday visited Indian Institute of Technology Delhi to interact with the students.The company said in a statement that they discussed the ways WhatsApp can contribute to India as it is invested in building a service with high utility for millions of Indians.  WhatsApp is on a launching spree and has been launching back to back updates and features.

The very recent feature is a Status feature that lets the users share photos, GIFs or videos that will be visible to contacts for 24 hours after which they disappear.  Users can also see who have viewed the status update by tapping on the eye icon at the bottom of any status update.The new feature is available now for all the users across the globe on iPhone, Android and Windows devices.  The Facebook-owned messaging platform has crossed 200 million users from the subcontinent.  In the past, the platform used to have 160 million users as per the reports that were out three months above and now it has reached mark 200 million users in the country.

WhatsApp co-founder Brian Acton has met with IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad to discuss the role of WhatsApp in commercial messaging and digital payments solutions.

He said that “India is a very important country to us, and we’re proud to have 200 million people who use WhatsApp to connect with their friends, family, and communities. We build every WhatsApp feature to be simple, reliable, and secure, and this vision is in line with what Digital India promises to achieve.

We will continue to invest so we can help more people across India, and we hope to contribute more to India’s vision for digital commerce in the future.  Not so recently, WhatsApp has introduced voice and video calls that have own over its users all across the country.
